What are the chances be that after months and months of hot, hot weather that we would have a session on the one cold morning. I guess I am a lightweight now but it was pretty darn cold out. Luckily, they stuck with me and, between running around and bundling up in jackets between locations, we managed to survive.

I was so glad when this family contacted me this year because I missed out on photographing them last year. They are so fun-loving and easy-going. Perhaps the thing that struck me the most throughout our session was the connection between dad and daughter. That’s why I love taking pictures, you capture connections that are real.

This little man was so awake, alert and so very cute. It was a long day and I am sure his parents are exhausted! But, they hung with me and we eventually won over little Levi and got some great shots!

Isn’t that how the song goes? That’s so me. I realized a few things tonight, 1. I am so not use to shooting older kiddos and 2. I am so behind on the times that I don’t even have any clue about kids these days. I had better learn and quick. I am sure that my son will be there before I know it. Luckily, these are our neighbors and friends so I can get away with being uncool. Do kids even say cool these days? I digress…

This sweet girl happens to be the baby sister to my daughter’s boyfriend, 2 isn’t too young, is it? My daughter has a thing for his curly blonde locks. I tell ya, she knows how to pick em. I was honored when mom asked me to photograph her baby girl. What I thought was even more special was that she wanted to photograph just her daughter. That’s so special to me.

She has the most beautiful eyes that I have ever seen. They are clean, crisp and just gorgeous. I had already packed up all my gear and was about to leave when I saw her laying so contently having her bottle. I had to capture it. It’s actually my favorite picture. Just so sweet and innocent.

There are not many people who could pull me out of my, very extended, maternity leave and snuggle time with this little man… However, my sister is just one of those people. I am uber excited about being an aunt and I can’t wait to get some snuggles with their little one. I, of course, will be the ‘cool’ aunt who takes them to get their first tattoo, buys all the loud, obnoxious gifts and lets them do everything that their parents won’t. Yes, I can’t wait. This little one is so blessed. I am excited to see their little family grow, to watch my sister become a mom and brother-in-law a dad. They will be such wonderful parents and I feel such joy and happiness for them.

Seriously, she is 32 weeks. Amazing. How is she so teeny-tiny, you ask?? Yeah, she ran a full marathon(that’s 26.2 miles, people) when she was 5 months. Yeah, I did that too, when I wasn’t pregnant, and could barely walk for a week. Yeah, she’s kind of amazing.

I think I have spoke of this before, but the birth of my daughter was like watching a piece of my soul being reborn again. I don’t know if it was the added surprise of not knowing her gender or if it’s because she is my daughter. Either way, I could feel this mother’s excitement like it was my own. She, too, chose to wait and what a sweet surprise she was. She had the most adorable lips and feet.Big brother had the most beautiful eyes that I have ever seen. And, he particularly loves his cars(well, and his sister). It was such a pleasure to be invited into your home and to have the opportunity to capture these moments for you. Thank you!

Sometimes in life you have the privilege of meeting and connecting with individuals who inspire you to do better and to be greater. Marti is just that person. She is a fire cracker with a heart of gold and possibly the most kind- hearted, wonderful and selfless person that I know. Marti, I had so much fun and thanks for letting me capture these 2 year pictures of your sweet Andy. I loved this picture the moment that I took it.

Just cleaning up the old hardrive. This is good and bad…good thing is that I can have a little more free space but the bad thing is that I spend hours going through old sessions. Sometimes, I find pictures that I didn’t notice the first time around or sometimes, I crop an image differently just to change things up. It’s fun and time consuming and there is no reason why I need to do it. But, I always enjoy it. It’s like looking at your babies pictures when they are 3.
