I decided today that I was going to pick 2 places to sit in my house, with my camera.

The rules were simple:

1. I couldn’t ‘move’ to get better light or a better shot

2. I couldn’t try to get their attention. I had to just sit, wait and watch.

My first place was the kitchen table. Breakfast was over but this was like a mid-morning snack. I’ll be back later with location #2…the playroom corner.

Go figure that I would deliver the awesome-stocking-stuffer-idea to my client before I remembered to photograph it…I hate it when that happens. Luckily, I will be placing another order later this week so sometime, I will post pictures of the cutest little brag books…ever!

I thought I would post a little something for all the other photography nuts out there. Today will be about textures. I am constantly looking at textures. Textures are an element that can be added to a photograph to help enhance it or change the dynamics of an image. I love textures, in moderation. They can be overdone and, in my personal opinion, they look horrible when overused. My favorite place to look for textures is at my dad’s barn. Talk about texture heaven. So many old, beat-up things that just have a great feel to them. So, I thought I would show you a before and after. I happen to love the ‘before’ image just as much as I love the ‘after’ image. But, I hope you can get an idea of what I am talking about. So, let’s start with the before…and the texture…And, with a few adjustments, the final image…See how it just changes the feel of the image? Like I said, I like both of them…but just in a different way!

I’m off tomorrow(hopefully) to photograph a family who has been rescheduled 3 times due to yucky weather so…here is to hoping that the sun comes out tomorrow or atleast the rain stays away!

We had so much fun taking Teagen out while her brother was out of town. My only regret was that I didn’t get any naked pictures of her. Which is very suprising considering how much I love naked pictures. Now, I’m afraid that it has gotten too cold to do them outside so I am going to have to do them indoors. But, I just don’t want to miss all of her chubbiness and, let me tell you, there is enough to go around. So, that is my mission for next week. Cute-naked-chubby-baby pictures. Stay tuned. Anyways, I loved so many of the pictures that we got and just can’t decide which ones will go up BIG in the house. What do you think?

This family now holds a special place in my heart. They are such wonderful people but even more than that, they are awesome parents.

They found me through my friends at Emerson Academy and are active in their non-profit, The Emerson Foundation. The Emerson Foundation provides early education to children with special needs. It is such a great organization with an awesome mission and a true desire to help those with special needs.

On to the session, their kids are an absolute delight. They are fun, entertaining and so beautiful. What’s the best about their kiddos? They love each other. They truly love each other. They have this sweet, special bond. I can only hope that my kiddos will grow up with the same love for each other.

Thank you for allowing me to capture your family and your lives. I hope you enjoy your pictures because I know that I had a great time taking them! And, 20 comments and you get a free 8×10 print of your choice!

Did I ever mention what happened to my finger on our trip to Houston? Probably not because the whole trip was something that I would prefer to just put behind me. I pulled my back out(now, that makes me feel seriously old), smashed my finger, Teagen had 2 teeth come in and my son had projectile vomiting the whole way home. It was a long trip. But, I smashed my finger in the car door. Okay, let me rephrase that, I smashed my finger in my Expedition door. It hurt like hell. I mean, really bad. Like it still hurts today. I am just now able to type with the darn thing and all I kept thinking was ” I’m sure glad it’s not my shutter finger because that would really suck!”And really, the picture doesn’t do it justice. This was about 2 hours after I did it and it only got worse from this point. I had planned on taking many, many pictures but with all that transpired, this would be one of the only stellar pictures that I got of my baby!

I’m really not bragging, that would be ridiculous. Okay, so maybe I am bragging, just a little bit. The other day I made the most fabulous Greek meal. ever. It was amazing. My standards are pretty low because the Greek restaurants in the area are far below par. My pita bread was delicious along with the hummus and tzatzikiÂ sauce. I just had to take pictures. I have never made bread…or really anything above a PB&J before so I was pretty happy with the results! and just because I was purging my hard-drive and ran across this happy jem…

My little Teagen turned 6 months old the other day. Hold on. What did I say? Six.freaken.months.old. You must be kidding me. I really think it goes by faster with the second. Maybe it’s just because I am much more relaxed this time around. She decided that she was going to start sitting up.How she accomplished this, I am still not sure. Really, other than naps and nightime, she only spends about 5 minutes out of my arms all day. That 5 minutes is usually spent in her exersaucer. She will only sit for about 1 minute before she looks at me with those sad eyes and tells me, in no uncertain terms, “you must be kidding me mom. pick me up”. She’s a little toot like that. I wouldn’t change it for the world. She has started giving me hugs and will reach those chubby arms all the way around me and clinch on like you wouldn’t believe. She aslo delved into the world of solid foods. She’s not to partial to it. She was grabbing at everything and really showing interest in food. So, we started with some avocado. She does much better when her father or brother feeds her. She looks at me like I have lost my mind when I try.

My little boy approached me this morning with his big-fat-pouty-lip and said, “mommy, Eli no feel so good today”. He then proceeded to have the saddest moments of moping around that I have ever seen.Who knows if he was really sick or just wanted a day of lounging around and watching his favorite episodes of ‘diggers and dozers, mighty machines’ on the tube. Either way, he got it. He curled right up and enjoyed some veggie chips.His eyes only briefly left the TV when the neighbor was getting some roofing supplies delivered and they had a fork lift. Other than that, a lazy day. Sometimes you just need that. Not to mention that I got to spend some time attacking thiswhich made me realize that my obsession with cloth diapers might have gone a little too far.What you can’t tell is that that row is 2 deep. But, doesn’t that just make you all warm and fuzzy inside? Â It just takes you back to the good ‘ole days but better. No more pins and crazy prefolds but a new era of cloth diapers. One that is cuter, fluffier and so much fun. I think everyone should convert. It just makes me happy.
