Julie and Matt’s wedding was such a sweet, intimate day. The weather was beautiful and the sun beamed through the windows throughout the whole ceremony and reception. I love that about day weddings; the light is just right and you can’t re-create that. Without further ado…I just love this one…I know, not technically perfect but, whatever really is??My hubby came along to get pictures of the guys while they were getting ready. This is one of his and I love it too…I have never seen it done before but they had everyone gather around them during the ceremony. So.very.special. I’ll be back with more in a couple of days but hopefully this will hold you over!

Julie has been waiting so patiently for her sneak. I have been so busy editing the pictures and I didn’t want to post any until I was done with all of them. But, I decided to break my rules and post one two of my favorite. Up until I became a photographer, I always went to a wedding and enjoyed the moment. As a photographer, I like to capture the little moments that most people won’t see or, if they do, they won’t remember them. The moments that can’t be described in words. Those moments that have to be witnessed. Like the groom looking at his bride during the middle of the ceremony. Ever so slightly turning his eyes to glance in awe at the beautiful women standing next to him. And, just because I love this one! Don’t worry Julie, I will be back later with much more!

On Friday we celebrated my little man’s 3rd birthday. Much more to come on that later but for now, I am still catching my breath and realizing that my first baby is really 3.

My *older* sister called me today and asked for a ‘blog favor’. She wants a poll for all my readers out there…this applies to all those who read but never comment! So, my sister is turning 30 in May. The new 20, right?!? She wants to go out in style. Not a *huge* party or anything but rather she wants to buy/do something for herself. The problem? She has no.clue what she would do. So, she needs help and advice. What should she do? Any advice or suggestions? Come on…get those creative juices flowing and leave her some love with all your fab ideas!

I found this picture very fitting. This is from Eli’s party and I am not sure whether she is showing him that he is 3 or trying to teach him 3-0. And, don’t forget the little contest that I have going on now...read all the way to the bottom!

We had such a fun time photographing the annual Bandana Ball for the Ronald McDonald House of Austin. It is so heartwarming to see everyone having such a good time all the while benefiting such a wonderful organization. And, I mean really, who doesn’t want to see Ronald McDonald ride a mechanical bull? It just doesn’t get much better than that! And, the live auction was amazing. Everything moves so.very.quickly. Before I blinked they were on to something else and numbers were flying in the air left and right and people screaming and hollering. I was just trying to keep my head on and focused in the semi-right direction.

I shot these bridals a couple of months ago and after a beautiful ceremony yesterday, Matt and Julie are now married and happily packing their bags for a wonderful honeymoon. So, I am coming to re-visit a wonderful bridal session. It’s out of my ‘norm’ and I had so.much.fun. Julie was an amazing bride to work with and was happily up for anything. And, let me not even mention that it was 30 degree and dropping outside. And, the wind chill. It was so windy. After about 2 hours my fingers were so frozen that I was having difficulty pressing my shutter and adjusting my settings. I don’t know how she did it in a strapless dress. But, she did it and worked it and the results were beautiful.

Thank you Julie for being such an amazing bride! Have fun on your honeymoon and I will be back soon with a peak of your wedding pictures!

There are many reasons why I loved this session. But, the light. The light was just perfect. I love this time of year for many reasons. But, the light. I really love the light.

Remember this family session? Well, of course we had to do a maternity session! I know this mamma is wondering what we got. I have so many favorites that I am sure I will be reposting more later. In fact, I haven’t even made my way through all the images yet. Usually, when I get home from a session I immediately upload the images and back them up to my external hardrive. Then, I flip through all the images and label them 1-5 stars. I don’t know why I use one to five because I always trash everything but the 5 stars. I am a creature of habit and that is just how I have always done it. After I have catagorized all my images then I will go through my 5 stars and start the editing process. Well, I didn’t even label these. I loved every.single.one. I just had to stop and edit them right then and there. Just a tip for all you picture taking fanatics out there…catagorize your images and then trash the ones that you don’t like. This way, they are way more organized when you go to print them and you don’t have 2 billion images on your hardrive. And, don’t forget, BACK UP YOUR IMAGES!!

I digress. Here are some of my favs thus far!I just love it when people are willing to try anything…it’s just so much fun!!!

Right as I was in the middle of blogging, the doorbell rang and this arrived. Let me tell you…we are talking MAJOR self control to wait until I got finished blogging to open it. ohhh but I can’t wait!

What a fun, dynamic couple. Never a dull moment. I just love that. At the beginning of the session we were chatting about previous pictures that they have had done. T pointed out that there are two types of pictures, those that are frame worthy and those that just go into albums never to be seen again. Talk about pressure. I sure hope that we got some frame worthy ones!!!And “B” told me that he doesn’t like pictures where you aren’t looking at the camera. So B, because you have such an awesome attitude I posted these just for you!! I hope they change your mind…just a little bit. I’ll be posting more from there session later but hopefully this will tie you over!!

Today, I could be mopping the floors, or folding the mound’o laundry that has accumulated itself on my bedroom floor. I could be putting away the dishes or starting a load of laundry. Somehow, none of those things are getting done. I am thankful that instead of doing all that, I am busy with photography stuff. This is a good thing. Not for the state of my house but, on all other fronts, it’s a very good thing.

I am in the process of revamping my logo…again. I know, you are rolling your eyes. Seriously, I am already on my second logo. But, hey, I am constantly changing. Evaluating my business and where I want it to go. This has taken me some time. I have had to really take a step back and focus on the future. Where do I go from here? What do I want to focus on and how do I want to grow? I think for any business owner, this is a hard thing. It has taken me many sleepless nights but I have finally got it. The new logo is so me. It’s perfect in everyway. So, stay tuned later this week when I launch my new baby.

On another front, I am finishing up this session. Because she is my sister, I have taken my sweet time editing her pictures. Okay, really, I have taken WAY to long and I admit that. You can always count on family, huh??? I think she might just hurt me if I don’t finish up soon. So, because I love you so much I am avoiding all of the above things to finish your pictures. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Have you ever tried to photography lightning? Seriously though, it’s hard. The other night there was an amazing dry lightning storm. Growing up, we would always visit family in San Angelo. One of the things I remember was the dry storms. The lightning was incredible. It lit up the sky for hours and you could see it for miles. Really, just one of those things of nature that you grow to appreciate. Too bad when I was a kid I just couldn’t understand why it was lightning but there was no rain. I must have asked my mom a thousand times, “where’s the rain”.

Anyways, I was driving home from the store the other night and there was some seriously amazing lightning. I called hubby and had him meet me outside with my camera. I had no flash attached so I had to crank up the ISO to get enough light. I mean, how hard could it be? But, really, I must have stood there for an hour shooting my camera like I was a mad women. I took probably 300 shots and you know what I got??? 300 shots and all I got was one(lousy) shot, the rest…black. How irritating! As I’m shooting I am thinking that I’m getting some amazing stuff to maybe frame in the house. But, nope, nothing. It turns out, photographing lighting is a lot harder than I ever thought.
