Monday morning the hubs and I took the kiddos out for a photo shoot. I wanted to go somewhere new but my inspiration train just wasn’t producing. So, we just drove around and stopped at any place that caught my eye. It’s really not the best way but, they are my own kiddos so I can push them a little farther. We had already finished up our shoot and were heading home when, at last, I was inspired. I got an idea and I get a little crazy when I have ideas. They bother me so much until I make them a reality. So, later that evening, we loaded the kids up and headed out again. This is usually a nightmare in and of itself because, my kiddos HATE pictures. But, this day, they particularly loved fruit snacks me. And, my inspiration for the evening…I love this boy so much. And, not to be forgotten…If it wasn’t for some annoying camera *issues*, I could have stayed out all night. The light was beautiful, the sky and, of course, the kiddos!

Remember the rules?

1. No moving to get better light or a better shot.

2. No getting their attention. Just sit, wait and watch.

I had so much fun doing this that I think I’ll try again this week. It’s great to get pictures of your kiddos without having to try at all.

And, don’t you worry all you cloth diaper fans…we are still on the bandwagon but it was wash day!

I decided today that I was going to pick 2 places to sit in my house, with my camera.

The rules were simple:

1. I couldn’t ‘move’ to get better light or a better shot

2. I couldn’t try to get their attention. I had to just sit, wait and watch.

My first place was the kitchen table. Breakfast was over but this was like a mid-morning snack. I’ll be back later with location #2…the playroom corner.

Sometimes, when days are rough around here and my loving chilren have just about turned every head on my hair grey, I find solice in naptime. I kiss their little heads, shut their doors and say a little prayer for my sanity. Then I come downstairs to my computer, sit in my grandmothers red velvet chair, open up i-tunes and crank up Andrea Bocelli as loud as it will go and away I go. To my happy place. I edit and look. I see pictures in a new light. I clear my head and just enjoy. Sometimes, I close my eyes and just listen to the quietness filled with beautiful music. I take a deep breath and relax. A meditation of sorts that sends me to some alter universe of enlightenment. Today, I did just that. And, look what I found. I love them so. And then, as quickly as it started, it’s over. A little voice through the monitor and the sound of an opening and closing bedroom door upstairs takes me out of my trance and back into reality. Until tomorrow my friend. Where, once again, I find peace.

We got up bright and early yesterday morning for this little guys photos. Good thing, we managed to beat the heat(for the most part) and catch him before his morning nap. He was wonderfully charming and had the most adorable dimples. Can you tell where he gets them from? And, thanks to my lovely friend Marti for helping me out on this session. It’s getting harder to jump up and down with this big ‘ole belly of mine!

30 seconds. That’s what I get. What happened to my sweet babe that loved my camera? I really just wanted to capture her spunk and innocence. Somehow, in 30 seconds, I managed to get just that.

Isn’t that beautiful?

Nothing touches my heart more than seeing a mother with her daughter. I had never experienced a feeling quite like that until I had my own daughter. It’s something that takes your breath away. This was no exception. This momma had an air of confidence that can only be described as love. True love. She fed her baby as if it were second nature. And she just had this sense of completeness. It’s hard to describe but beautiful to witness.

Thank you for inviting me into your home and allowing me to capture such a precious bundle. Hopefully, when the newborn fog has risen and sleeping hours return, these pictures will serve as memories of those fleeting hours that will never be again.

On our little trip out of town, I decided to do a spur of the moment mini session with my kiddos. With being sick forever, I just didn’t have the energy to get them all dressed up and go out. Shame on me, I know. I was prepared for my son’s “i hate your camera” attitude but, what I wasn’t prepared for, was my diva daughter and her “i’m 17 months going on 16 and you had better get away from me” attitude. Ahhh…what it’s like to have a glimpse into the future! But, my little man came through for me and rocked it out.
