On Friday we celebrated my little man’s 3rd birthday. Much more to come on that later but for now, I am still catching my breath and realizing that my first baby is really 3.

My *older* sister called me today and asked for a ‘blog favor’. She wants a poll for all my readers out there…this applies to all those who read but never comment! So, my sister is turning 30 in May. The new 20, right?!? She wants to go out in style. Not a *huge* party or anything but rather she wants to buy/do something for herself. The problem? She has no.clue what she would do. So, she needs help and advice. What should she do? Any advice or suggestions? Come on…get those creative juices flowing and leave her some love with all your fab ideas!

I found this picture very fitting. This is from Eli’s party and I am not sure whether she is showing him that he is 3 or trying to teach him 3-0. And, don’t forget the little contest that I have going on now...read all the way to the bottom!

We had such a fun time photographing the annual Bandana Ball for the Ronald McDonald House of Austin. It is so heartwarming to see everyone having such a good time all the while benefiting such a wonderful organization. And, I mean really, who doesn’t want to see Ronald McDonald ride a mechanical bull? It just doesn’t get much better than that! And, the live auction was amazing. Everything moves so.very.quickly. Before I blinked they were on to something else and numbers were flying in the air left and right and people screaming and hollering. I was just trying to keep my head on and focused in the semi-right direction.

This is one of my dearest friends. We are so much alike it’s a bit disgusting but yet different enough to keep it entertaining. She is someone that I can answer the door in my tie-dye t-shirt and Tom’s shoes and not be embarrased(as I hang my head in shame for admitting this in ‘real life’). Really, she’s the only person that I would answer the door like that for. But, it’s my typical garb and she knows it and so we laugh about our crunchy, hippy ways together. That’s what a good friend is all about.

It was about 2 years ago, we were both teaching full time. My son was still a baby and she was pregnant with her first. I would always go ‘complain’ in her room and she would always come into my room for a breath of fresh air. She was the first person that I ever photographed and they are some of my favorite pictures to date. So, here we are 2 years later, I now have 2 ‘babies’ and she is pregnant with her second. We are now staying at home and enjoying life as it is. Full circle, I tell ya.

Christine, you are an awesome friend and I am so excited for you guys! I can’t wait to meet your new little man and to watch your family grow! And, did I mention that I convinced her to cloth diaper. Come on now, you know you want to do it too!!

If you are anything like me then you probably read a lot of blogs. I mean, I have truly had to cut back. I was so engrossed in other peoples lives that I was missing out on my own. Now, I have a select few that I go read regularly(like clients and friends). Because, seriously, I was reading blogs of blogs of blogs of people that I had no idea who they were or why I was reading it. You know, don’t you?

Seriously.off.topic. Anyway, if you are a blog reader then you know that we had snow here in Austin last week. How do you know? Because, every.single.Austin blog wrote about the snow. How can you not? The thing is, if you never see snow then you can never possibly get tired of it. Eli and I stood out in the snow all.day.long. It was such a phenomenon…huge, beautiful snowflakes falling from the sky and covering the ground in a way that I have never seen. Really, it took my breath away. And, of course, I was out there with my camera trying to capture it so that I could remember forever.

I had to shoot a ton of pictures to get this one. At the time, I didn’t know exactly how sick my little babe was or I probably would have never taken her outside. …Today, is her One Year Birthday!!! Yes, I think One Year deserves caps…I would put it all in caps but fear of being a *little* obnoxious will help me refrain! I will(someday) post more about her one year but, for now, I am off(again) to go and rock my sick baby.

I have been absent. So much going on and so little time to blog. I do have some exciting local vendors coming up and I am excited to showcase and support other local businesses. So, stay tuned for that. I have been sticking to my business hours, it has been hard but also a blessing. I am spending more time being a mom and less time glued to my computer. I have been watching this relationship grow into something special. And, I have been wondering where my little baby went. We are approaching the (gasp) 1 year mark. We have a party in the makings and I am sad but also happy. Can’t she just be a baby for a little longer? We enrolled her in Mothers Day Out for next year. Two days a week. I am not sure what I am going to do with myself. And, check out those teeth…I am so irritated because I seem to have lost a bunch of product pictures that I was going to post. I really need to get better about organizing my personal pictures. I went through a bazillion folders and can’t find them anywhere. So very irritating.

Remember this little man, or perhaps you remember him here? Have I mentioned how much I love watching my little baby planners grow? It is so much fun because there are some characteristics that just stay with them. For instance, this little guy has had his signature hand clench since I first met him. It’s his move and I’m sure he uses it to pick up all the ladies. Lets not even mention his beautiful blue eyes. I am thinking they are here to stay. I’m telling you, he has the c(cuteness) factor so much that it’s out of control. And, his feet. The little wrinkles, they are so sweet. And, from what I hear, his Grandma likes to read my blog! Thanks Grandma, I really appreciate it! So, today’s contest will be for Grandma(okay, and maybe also for Mom and Dad). 25 comments and Grandma(and Mom and Dad) get a free 8×10 of their choice! And, no-one likes to brag as much a a grandma so this should be a fun one!

I am just finishing the last pictures from this amazing session. I am reminded of the stillness that surrounds a newborn. Until you are in that moment, you can never fully understand the magnitude of what is happening. Stillness fills the air. As you adjust, you adapt, you learn, you become, you grow. You nurture a human being. A new life, solely dependent upon you. Those first hours, days and weeks are just that, stillness. Life seems to go on but yet it doesn’t move. You hardly have time to breathe but yet, you feel alive. Those moments of stillness will change you. They will inspire you and they will transform you into a person you never thought possible. Those moments of stillness are something that you can never get back. Those moments of stillness will become passing memories. You will try to relive, to re-experience those first moments, but you can’t. Months from now, you will close your eyes and you will try to remember. But, in those foggy days, it is hard to remember. But, hopefully, you will look back on these pictures and the memories will come flooding in. The sweet smell, the wrinkly skin, the little blonde hairs, the sweet feet, the triumphs and the tribulations. It will all come rushing back to you, and, in that moment, it will take your breathe away. Because, it is these precious moments of stillness that will rejuvinate a tired soul; it is these moments that will send you back to what it is all about. phew…that was a long one! And, of course, what session would be complete without a contest…25 comments and they will get 3 wallet sized brag books! They are the cutest little way of carrying around your newborn pictures!

I am thankful for so many things in my life, really, I am. But, don’t you ever have those days when things just aren’t working for you. I couldn’t help but laugh to myself when my husband was going out of town. Really, bad timing. My daughter hasn’t slept in 2 days. Teething. Really? Darn teeth please make your appearance soon. My mouse is broken so until my new one comes in the mail it is seriously taking me 5 minutes to scroll down 1 page. It is so frustrating that all I can do is laugh. Actually, for little sleep and little productivity around here…there has been a lot of laughter. For that, I am thankful.

I am running slightly behind right now but plan to be caught back up tomorrow. I have been editing but very. very. slowly due to said mouse problem. Anyways, I was finishing up this little mans session and couldn’t help but smile. He is so handsome and such a little man. He’s gonna break some hearts! Watch out. And, did I forget to mention that today I delivered a 30×40 gallery wrap and I forgot to take a picture of it. So, if you happen to be reading this blog(and, I know sometimes you do) and you happen to snap a picture of the beauty up in your house…could you happen to email me a picture! I digress…

I might be MIA for a couple of days but will be back with a sneak from an adorable newborn session, some volunteer work that I am doing and some product pictures. So, stay tuned…
